Challenge

The customer from the US came with the idea of a healthcare online platform that connects consumers with up-to-date medical technology insights like treatments, procedures, and innovations. They aimed to rebuild and expand the existing system to the 3 big parts: Admin Panel, Pro Site and Public Site. The key requirements included:

  • Redesign the current Public Site with adding new sections for assignments and reports.
  • Rebuild the existing Admin Panel with extended functionality for managing assignments, advertisements, payments (including transactions and subscriptions) and promotions.
  • Develop a separate Pro Site for Creators of the content, where they can: manage assignments and content, purchase advertisements and promotions, check statistics, etc.
  • Implementing a payment system between Creators and Contributors.

Furthermore, our main mission was to maintain ease of use and effective management of diverse user roles amid high system complexity and scalability.

The main challenge for us during the project creation was to develop a scalable and reliable platform with multiple roles together with websites that deliver high performance under numerous users and data volume, while supporting integrations with external services under strict security and compliance requirements. As core challenges, we can highlight:

  • Mobile application based on Capacitor and React Native with cross-platform support for Android, iOS, VisionOS, and MacOS, ensuring a consistent user experience and stability for each of the platforms.
  • Complex video for the Public Site, composed of multiple video clips that start and end at different times, yet play continuously in a horizontally scrolling “filmstrip” style, with some rows moving right and others left, which was a big task for our design team.
  • Pro Site is heavily animated, which added further complexity to both design and development. The animations needed to be smooth, responsive, and consistent across browsers and devices, pushing the team to optimize carefully and coordinate closely between designers and developers.

Solution

Public Site

When we started to work on this project, the Public Website base architecture was done, but has to be fully redesigned. Our team developed the new design with users in mind and implemented common with other 2 system sides functions: content assignment and advertisement control. Additionally, we implemented the automated tool that generates reports for Admins to see more clear statistic.
After all, we created the convenient website connected with Admin and Pro parts where users can find and view the up-to-date medical content like videos, articles, or images with the greatest ease.

Admin Panel

This side of the system has already existed, but needed to be upgraded to the most recent technology stack. We left the old design, but completely rewrote the architecture to be able to handle a huge amount of data, so the system can scale without the loss of performance.
Ultimately, we created Admin Panel – an administrative website where Admins manage all the functionality of Public and Pro parts. We integrated new management functionality as a content assignment tool, advertisement control utility, customer’s transactions and subscriptions management, and promotion statistic.

Pro Site

The development of this part and all functionality were completely our idea. To reduce the main 2 parts overloading, our team decided to move the creator’s part of functionality to the additional site. Here the manufacturers like medical companies or clinicians can manage assignments and content, purchase advertisements and promote their content.

Tech Ideas We Implemented

To build a scalable and reliable platform, we used modern and proven technologies that fully met the project requirements.

As a result, we delivered a stable, scalable, and secure platform supporting multiple roles and sites, providing high performance and ready for future growth:

  • For Pro, Public Site, and Admin Panel, we used the newest versions of Next.js providing high performance and support for the latest browsers
  • The mobile app was developed with Capacitor and React Native, enabling cross-platform support for 4 main OSes.
  • For the Backend, we used Nest.js with RESTful APIs for integrations with third-party services like Google Analytics or Amazon Cognito, ensuring secure and standardized data exchange.
  • Database hosted on AWS RDS with backups, sharding, and automatic failover, guaranteeing fault tolerance, scalability, and fast data access.
  • GitHub and GitHub Actions for code management and CI/CD automation, enabling fast, safe releases and continuous improvement.
  • Responsive UI supporting required screen resolutions and orientations supporting major browsers and devices, ensuring a comfortable experience for diverse user roles.
